Read on to learn more about “The Maze Runner” including a brief synopsis of the upcoming movie.
“The Maze Runner” Synopsis:
The story revolves around a group of boys, who have no recollection of their past lives, fighting to live through and escape a maze that is swarming with lethal creatures. It is basically set in a dystopian world that is akin to the “Hunger Games” and “Divergence” series.
Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) awakens in an elevator without any memory but his name. He ascends to a world with about 60 boys who have adapted to an isolated environment, where surviving is based solely on the goods that they produce on their own. Every 30 days, a new boy comes to the dreaded place, knowing nothing except his name. Their group was originally called “The Glade,” and for years, they fought to escape the Maze that encompassed the entirety of their living space. Hope was vague for the boys, but when a comatose girl comes bearing a strange note, the desolated world, as they know it, begins to shift its course.
In the same month last year, the movie’s set opened its doors to a selected group of reporters to get a firsthand experience of the film’s shooting environment. It took a while before they gave the green light for the information to be published, and the outcomes were definitely worth the wait.
Director Wes Ball shared that his hopes for the success of this film would be close to the achievement of “The Jurassic Park.” He wanted to be able to come up with a creative medium that doesn’t pander but is able to manage to grasp the interest of the children.
Despite having so much hope on the positive aftermath of the film, it has been recently given the PG-13 rating by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). This was all due to the intense content of sci-fi violence, which could also mean the presence of some disturbing images. Such rating was an understated conclusion, considering the gravity of the book’s concentrated depiction.
The protagonist is played by Dylan O’Brien, who is much more widely known as the sidekick in the popular TV drama, “Teen Wolf.” Initially, he was not supposed to be cast for the role because of the hairstyle he had during the auditions. Director Ball thought his hair was too mainstream. Then again, after seeing his regular buzz cut in the said TV series, he was called back to permanently close the movie deal.
Ultimately, the film has enough abundance of material to be able to create a groundbreaking story that will supplement their expectations for its success. The creators just have to make sure that they get the right compelling elements to satiate the things fans will love most in the movie.
