After solving a case at the fashion show, Laura explored the world of gambling and art on “The Mysteries of Laura” Season 1, Episode 7 “The Mystery of the Art Ace.” Read on for the full recap.

The episode started with an old woman who’s digging through a trash can when she started to scream because she found a body inside.

Jake and Laura went to the crime scene located in Korea Town, and they examined the dead body. The man was killed through the head during the wee hours of the morning, and they found a business card that identifies the victim as David Sarkissian of Sarkissian Gallery. They also found a huge amount of money in his pocket, which meant that robbery wasn’t the motive behind his death.

Their next step was to check out the art gallery where David used to work, and there, they met his sister Angela and his father. Angela cried when she learned about the death of her brother, while David’s father wasn’t’ surprised at all. His father told them that he used to go out at a karaoke bar in Korea Town.

Jake and Laura headed to the karaoke bar, but the staff there were very uncooperative. They also discovered that there’s an illegal poker game set up there. So Jake asked Laura to go undercover as a poker player, but she hesitated because she can’t play anymore.  Jake suggested a refresher course from her father. We all know how much Laura loves her job and how she’s very good at it, so she went to her father’s house, but it didn’t go well because they fought.

While Max found an NFL player, TJ Cantrell, who plays at the illegal poker setup, he agreed to let Laura in. Laura went back to her father’s house to learn poker and be better at it, and they were able to talk things through as her father asked her to see his grandsons in exchange for the poker refresher course. Laura finally agreed.

The next night, Laura went undercover as “Red Velvet,” and there were spy cameras all over there to track her down. Meanwhile Jake, Meredith and her dad were parked outside. Later on, Laura showed her badge, and the hostess of the game ra,n but Meredith caught up with her. Bridget, the hostess of the game, was brought to the precinct for questioning.

Bridget said that she knows David because she used him to launder her poker money at the art gallery. It turned out that she was telling the truth. They went next to an art gallery auction to meet Titus, an art dealer that Bridget fired before she hired David. Titus said that he doesn’t have anything to do with the death of David but admitted that he told David’s father that he was upset because his son was stealing his business and laundering money.

They went back to interrogate David’s father because they thought he was the one who killed David, and he admitted to it, but his actions prove otherwise. It suggested that he was protecting someone. So, that led them to question Angela who was surprised to even be blamed for his brother’s death. It turned out that it was Will, Angela’s boyfriend, who killed David. Will was a struggling artist who wishes to sell his art, and he asked David to sell his. However, David didn’t agree, so he killed him. Angela was devastated to hear such news, and Will was sent to jail.
