Things are getting weird and awkward in the new episode of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” Season 7 Episode 8 “Tea with a Side of Squashed Beef,” which aired last Dec. 28, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. on Bravo. In this episode, NeNe strangely asks Kenya to go to lunch with her, Kandi has a rollercoaster conversation with her mother and aunts and alcohol is taking its toll in a four-person “girl talk.”

NeNe arrives at Wisteria restaurant and tells the host she will be meeting a woman with a lot of weave on her head. The man ushers her to Portia’s table. The two women laugh and hug each other. Portia praises NeNe’s outfit which is “football lingerie.” NeNe takes the compliment by dancing before she sits.

NeNe just came from Tampa, Florida, so she wants to catch up with Portia about the happenings in Atlanta. Portia opens the conversation by asking NeNe if she have already met Demetria McKinney. After NeNe says no, Portia talks about the video party. NeNe thinks Atlanta has a party for everything. Portia tells NeNe that Demetria did not have the chance to play her music video because of technical difficulties. NeNe thinks it was like having a “fashion show without a fashion show.”

The conversation shifts to Cynthia because Portia tells NeNe she met her in the video party. NeNe asks if Cynthia talked to Portia about her. Portia answers that they did not talk; however, she doubts Cynthia’s sincerity during the housewives’ dinner. It is her turn to ask NeNe if she talked with Cynthia after their confrontation. NeNe says they did not even talk on the phone.

NeNe has an idea to gather Portia, Cynthia and Kenya to settle their differences once and for all. She thinks they are the ones with the biggest issues. She wants to invite them to drink. She admits to Portia that she thinks Cynthia is still a good person, and she still loves her like a sister. Portia is optimistic as well, but she thinks they still need more time.

Meanwhile, Kandi visits her Aunt Nora’s house. As soon as she steps inside the house, she greets her Aunt Bertha, Aunt Nora and Mama Joyce. While eating their snack, she reminds her aunts that her mother is a new homeowner already. However, she announces that Joyce does not want to give her a key to the house because her mother is trying to get back at her for not giving a key as well. Although, she thinks she has the right to have a key because she spent more than $100,000 to give Joyce a new house. Aunt Nora asks Kandi what if her mother’s boyfriend is naked in the house, and she enters suddenly. Aunt Bertha stops the dirty conversation.

Their conversation shifts to Kandi’s musical, which will be on tour for a couple of weeks. She shares that the cast will be different and Portia will not take part anymore. She also says they already hired a promoter because Todd is inexperienced like her when it comes to tour promotions. She suddenly invites her mother and her aunts to take part in the show to fill up the seats. She receives silence. Aunt Nora tells her she is already retired.

Joyce suddenly asks Kandi how was her New York experience. Aunt Nora asks her if she saw Todd’s mother, Sharon Tucker. Kandi starts talking about Sharon’s hysteria and threats to Joyce.

“Bring it on,” Aunt Bertha says.

Kandi says Sharon thinks Joyce owes her an apology. Joyce still does not want to apologize. Kandi concludes that her mother will never apologize to Sharon.

“She better not come like no cabbage,” Joyce says.

Kandi laughs because she does not understand “old school sayings.” Then she tells her mother that Sharon wanted to punch her on the face. Everybody gets speechless.

Meanwhile, Cynthia brings Claudia to Derek J’s salon. She gives a surprise makeover for Claudia as a newcomer. She thinks Claudia must “step up” in Atlanta. Claudia thinks the makeover is useful because her mother and grandmother will be arriving.

While talking about Roger Bob, Demetria and the video party, Cynthia suddenly receives a text from NeNe. NeNe invites her for some drinks for a “girl talk.” The unusual part is that NeNe also invites Kenya. Cynthia cannot figure out why because NeNe was not even talking to Kenya. She guesses that maybe NeNe will bring Phaedra or Portia. Derek J jokes that Cynthia must not bring Peter. Cynthia replies that she will come because she thinks NeNe was genuine in their last confrontation, and it is the least she can do to give back after years of friendship.

Kenya and Brandon’s conversation about office spaces is interrupted by Cynthia’s call. Cynthia tells Kenya that NeNe wants her to have lunch with them the next day. Kenya is so surprised because she believes she has nothing to do with Cynthia and NeNe’s issue. She feels uneasy about what NeNe has under her sleeve or “hoof.” She thinks Portia might be the perfect “lapdog” for NeNe nowadays, so she is expecting a confrontation with her.

At The Kandi Factory, Kandi tells Todd that she is stressed with the low ticket sales of the upcoming tour. She shares her plan with Todd of bringing her mother and aunts on tour. Todd thinks it is big trouble. Kandi also tells Todd that her mother is never going to apologize to Sharon. Todd says he will not come for Thanksgiving if Kandi is bringing her mother. Kandi starts to clarify if they will celebrate the holidays separately. Todd blames Joyce for the mess she made. He admits he does not want to spend the holidays with Kandi’s mother. Kandi walks out.

NeNe and Portia are the first ones to arrive at Arena Tavern restaurant. NeNe is proud she is not late. She tells Portia that she also invited Kenya. Portia is surprised. NeNe insists Kenya and Portia must have a “grown woman conversation.” Portia promises to do her best to settle things with Kenya.

Cynthia and Kenya finally arrive. The table starts to get noisy with hollers as Cynthia kisses NeNe while Kenya just shakes hands with her. Portia chooses to stay on her seat and greet them. The waiter starts serving vodka. Kenya is happy her seat is far from Portia. After kidding around and gossiping, NeNe starts to talk about their issues.

Kenya tells NeNe that Cynthia’s mistake was just her personality of hating confrontations. NeNe interjects that Cynthia is confrontational — behind a person’s back. Cynthia admits she is just not the type of person to simply erase a person in her life. While Cynthia and NeNe are exchanging statements, Kenya also keeps on interrupting their conversation with her opinions. NeNe is starting to get annoyed with Kenya. Cynthia ends the argument by saying the most important part of the night is realizing that NeNe still loves her. She also says she loves NeNe.

While Portia and Kenya go to the restroom, Cynthia sits next to NeNe. She apologizes if NeNe thinks she blindsided her. She admits she still wants to be friends with NeNe. NeNe says she is okay with that, but she needs time. After Portia and Kenya take their seats, Cynthia starts to kiss NeNe’s cheek several times. She thinks their conversation means progress.

Cynthia starts to talk to Portia about their issue. She is disappointed that Portia arrived late in their last meet-up together. She reminds Portia that she did not even apologize. Portia starts insisting that she said sorry. NeNe cannot handle their “stupid” issue that she goes out for a while. After a few minutes, she and Kenya come back with another round of vodka. They try to interrupt the incomprehensible conversation of Cynthia and Portia, but the two women do not want to stop.

Finally, NeNe manages to stop the intense argument of Portia and Cynthia. However, Portia starts attacking Kenya for being so rude in trying to interrupt their conversation. Cynthia is successful of getting Portia’s attention by kissing and hugging her. NeNe reminds Portia that it is Kenya’s turn with her. Both women do not want to confront each other. None of them wants to apologize. Kenya stands up from her seat and goes to Portia. She says she wants to hug her. Portia hesitates at first, but she finally stands up and hugs Kenya.

The owner of Arena Tavern suddenly checks them out. The housewives start to jest with the owner. NeNe and Kenya, however, cannot stop laughing. Portia and Cynthia just focus on their drink.
