The former “Sex and the City” star Sarah Jessica Parker (SJP), in partnership with Manolo Blahnik CEO George Malkemus, will launch the SJP Collection, a shoe and handbag collection that is made in Italy, on Friday, Feb.28, 2014 at Nordstrom. There are 25 styles to choose from, with a price range of $195 to $500.
With this new partnership, Parker cannot seem to veer away from her alter ego Carrie Bradshaw, as she was known for her love of shoes in the popular TV show. Malkemus shared with Vanity Fair how difficult it was to pair the name “Carrie” with a particular shoe as it was a popular name among women for many years.
According to long-island.newsday.com, when Parker was asked about her inspiration in envisioning the whole look of the collection, she shared about the things in her life that inspired her such as ribbons that she used to tie her hair with when she was still a little girl, the flower accessories from “Sex and the City” and fashion from the 70s and 80s.
“I’m a firm believer in quality and timelessness and have created this collection with the hopes that women will love wearing it for years to come,” said Parker in the long-island.newsday.com report.
Parker and Malkemus spoke with Style.com about the SJP Collection which hits Nordstrom on Feb. 28, 2014.
Parker told Style.com about the woman she had envisioned in the collection. It was a woman walking in the streets of Florence with a bag and a piece of hardware. She is wearing jeans with simple flare and wearing a Henley.
“It’s that late seventies, very clean, simple, superchic—but not better than you or me. Just simply getting dressed in the morning and being herself. That’s what I learned from my mother. And that’s what I learned from my grandmother. Extremely simple. Beautiful. Sexy. Feminine shoe, bag, coat,” said Parker in the Style.com report.
Malkemus also emphasized the word “investment” in buying shoes because that is the very thing that their collaboration is aiming for.
“You shouldn’t feel regretful when you look in your closet and think, ‘Boy,that feels out of fashion’,” added Parker.
A set of handbags will also be featured in the collection, with a price range of $245 to $375. Plus, there’s a gorgeous trench coat in navy and tan that is available for $495.
This is not the first time that Parker has embarked into a fashion venture. She has previously worked with Steve & Barry’s for a fashion line called Bitten.
Parker is a well-known fashionista so stocks are expected to run out fast. Don’t forget to check out The Sarah Jessica Parker SJP Collection which hits Nordstrom on Feb. 28, 2014.
