“They Came Together” Synopsis:

Things were not well at first for Joel (Paul Rudd) and Molly (Amy Poehler). Molly owned a candy store, Upper Sweet Side, in the Upper East Side, while Joel owned a big candy shop and wanted to open one right across Molly’s. Both were looking for a rebound after their respective relationships failed—Joel with Tiffany (Cobie Smulders), while Molly with her accountant (Ed Helms). The two were introduced by common friends during a Halloween party. Their second meeting led them to bond and share about their love for books.

“They Came Together” Review:

As of this writing, the critics in Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a 67%, while 91% of the moviegoers would like to watch this film.

Alonso Duralde of The Wrap noted in his review how the characters and scenes in the story where whatever they needed to be to deliver the jokes the movie feel like telling in a particular moment.

“They’re not just making fun of the genre of rom-coms or summer camp movies or whatever but of the idea of satire itself, or of the idea of jokes have to have any kind of meaning or logic or resonance. Fans will no doubt be amused; for everyone else, the results are so post-modern that they’re post-funny,” added Duralde in The Wrap article.

Meanwhile, Variety’s Scott Foundas described the film as a “lively comic jamboree” which managed to deliver what people expected of it—to be funny.
