Mark Ruffalo has indicated time and again that the Hulk is going to change majorly in the new films about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now he has revealed that the Hulk’s consciousness is going to be completely divorced from Bruce Banner’s consciousness in the new sequel in the Thor series.
Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk has always been controllable minus a few incidents. All in all, Dr. Banner can usually call him at will as seen in the Avengers : Age of Ultron so far. There were a couple of incidents when the Hulk went on a rampage and got into the whole mindless destruction act, but somebody, usually Iron Man, had been always keeping guard so the destruction didn’t get out of hand. But Thor 3: Ragnarok is going to take the conscious control over the Hulk consciousness to the extreme so that Dr. Banner’s consciousness will separate from Hulk’s consciousness completely. In other words, the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde story, as Cinema Blend calls it may end in Thor 3.
Mark Ruffalo himself commented on the idea saying, “It’s very subtle, but the Banner/Hulk consciousness is beginning to meld a little bit. Who decided to leave? Was it Banner or Hulk? It’s not really in the (cinematic) mythology of Hulk up until that moment to be that conscious and pro-active. It’s interesting, right?” He didn’t exactly give the game away with that one, but comic book fans already know which series of comic books he is referring to. I remember an “Incredible Hulk” story line by Jason Aaron where the two separate.
Screen Rant reports that the other big news is that Thor: Ragnarok will be a Hulk – Thor buddy movie. How will the two men interact with each other? We don’t know, but we are obviously looking forward to a Hulkand Thor fight. Remember the fight in the park scene in the Avengers movie? We hope that there is a similar sequence in Thor: Ragnarok.
Thor: Ragnarok will come out in November 2017.
