How will Thor (Chris Hemsworth) battle with the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), escape from the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum), defeat Hela (Cate Blanchett) and save Asgard from Ragnarok without the help of Mjolnir? A new LEGO set that teases a big battle scene reveals the God of Thunder’s choice of weapon in Thor:Ragnarok.
Battle For Asgard
The first trailer for the Taika Waititi-directed superhero movie was not kidding around: In the first 20-second of the video, viewers have seen Hela grab Mjolnir, and then break it to pieces. Next, the God of Thunder falls from the sky and thrown into a battle stadium.
A gladiator battle against the Incredible Hulk will be a challenge without Mjolnir, but Thor is to face a bigger opponent in Asgard. In order to save his kingdom and its inhabitants, Thor has to defeat the Queen of Hel.
Details about the plot remain under tight wraps, but new LEGO sets reveal two key scenes from the upcoming superhero movie. In one set, Thor is depicted in a battle against the Hulk while the Grandmaster and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) watch. The other toy set shows the confrontation between Hela and Thor.
Known as The Ultimate Battle for Asgard, the second set reveals a few details that have not been presented in the trailer or in cast interviews. From the leaked photo of the toy set, it can be deduced that Thor and the Hulk were able to not only survive the gladiator battles but also escape from the Grandmaster and the planet Sakaar. They were also able to return to Asgard to confront Hela. Here is a photo of the box care of Movie Pilot.
What is curious about the set is the LEGO Thor, which noticeably, is holding a blue artifact. It cannot be Mjolnir because, as mentioned, Hela already destroyed the weapon.
There are only a few things in the MCU that look like blue glowing objects and that includes the Tesseract, an artifact that contains the Space Stone.
Thor and the Infinity Stone
To recall, the Tesseract first came out in Captain America: The First Avenger. When the battle of New York ended, Thor and Loki were seen with the Tesseract.
From what have been witnessed so far, the Tesseract has the ability to open portals from one dimension to another. Viewers have already seen this happen in Avengers when Loki invited Chitauri army to New York City. Then, Thor used the item to return to Asgard before handing it over to Heimdall (Idris Elba) to repair the Bifrost Bridge.
But it also contains a destructive energy. According to the MCU Wiki, many believe that the Tesseract can be a source of infinite energy because it draws from space. HYDRA was able to use the artifact to power vehicles and weapons of mass destruction.
Moreover, it can cause an explosion with just a single spark. Because Thor is desperate for a weapon to stop Hela from destroying Asgard, it would not be a surprise if the God of Thunder scours the kingdom to find something strong enough to subdue the most powerful villain he has ever faced.
Thor: Ragnarok To Kick Off Avengers: Infinity War
Meanwhile, the third Thor movie is expected to jumpstart the biggest cinematic event in Marvel Universe. Thanos is on a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones and the reappearance of the Space Stone might prompt an intervention from Thanos himself. The battle for the fate of the universe might start from Asgard.
Thor: Ragnarok also stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Karl Urban and Anthony Hopkins. The movie is set to be released on Nov. 3.
