“Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation” was just recently released in theaters. However, the papers and tabloids aren’t littered by Tom Cruise’s (also playing as Ethan Hunt) acting. In fact, the 53-year-old actor is faced by another controversy well beyond the Mission Impossible franchise. Read on for more details.
Early last July, news about Tom Cruises’s plan to leave the Church of Scientology began to circulate around the web. The actor of the super spy, Ethan Hunt, has long been criticized with his erratic movement under the public’s eye. The long standing criticisms of his public image is closely related with his involvement with Scientology. His recent talk with his 9-year-old daughter, Suri, gave him a moment of clarity that could possibly end the almost decade-long attack on him.
Cruise’s relationship with his daughter Suri cannot be called as conventional in a Scientology kind of way. With the years piling up on Suri’s age, she is slowly but surely closing in earning the title “suppresive person.” In Scientology terms, a person who should not be contacted by any Scientologist. It is this reason that puts Cruise in a difficult predicament, should he quit the Church of Scientology so he could be with Suri or should he just forget his fatherly responsibilities in order to uphold his church’s belief?
In his latest talk with Suri, the daughter he allegedly has not seen for almost two years, he realized that Suri is not a baby anymore and that his daughter is slowly becoming a stranger to him, as reported by Esquire. It is this piece of heart-wrenching news that led most, if not all, to cheer for him as the “Top Gun” star realized that he has missed so much.
However, right after this explosive news many columnists took to the net and said their pieces as to why the talk about Tom Cruise leaving isn’t true. A former member of the Church, Chris Shelton, said in an interview with Hollywood Life that he personally believes that Cruise hasn’t left Scientology because if he had, there would be massive consequences. In addition to this, a report from TheFrisky says that the act was fairly similar to what happened three years ago and that promise is yet to come true.
Many say that the puff piece on Tom Cruise and Suri is just a ruse but what do you think? Do you believe that Cruise will leave Scientology for Suri? Tell us your opinion about it by commenting below, we’d love to hear from you.
