A water district has sued Tom Selleck, claiming the star of the crime shows “Magnum, P.I.” and “Blue Bloods” stole truckloads of water from a public hydrant and took it to his ranch in drought-stricken California. Courthouse News Service originally reported the lawsuit against Selleck on July 7, and the AP contributed to this report.

According to FOX 411, the Calleguas Municipal Water District sued Tom Selleck, claiming that the American actor & film producer stole truckloads of water from a public hydrant and brought it to his ranch in drought-stricken California. Tom owns 60-acre avocado ranch in Westlake Village.

The lawsuit was actually filed against Selleck on June 30 after California communities were ordered to cut water use by 25 percent compared with 2013 levels due to the state’s four-year drought.” It also includes the name Jillie Selleck, Tom’s wife. However, the lawsuit does not specify the quantity of water that was stolen.

The Water District in Ventura County claimed that a tanker truck loaded water more than a dozen times and unloaded it to a 60-acre ranch owned by Selleck, reported the source.

The Water District also claimed that it had already sent Selleck “cease-and-desist letters” ordering the “Blue Bloods” star to stop the illegal water deliveries. The District added that the truck was spotted on four different days this past March stealing water from the public hydrant and delivering it to Selleck’s ranch, despite of sending the “cease-and-desist letters.” .

The Water District also said that it had “spent nearly $22,000 to hire a private investigator to document the alleged thefts that date back two years.”

The source also reported that Tom Selleck’s Reps did not respond to AP’s phone messages and emails.
