Academy Award winner Tommy Lee Jones strapped himself back on as a visionary stead after nearly a half-a-score since he directed “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada.” His all-new film output is a Western set film that is similar to his previous work but also bears a different kind of level in its depiction.
In a synopsis from Slash Film, a harsh life has driven three women (Grace Gummer, Miranda Otto, Sonja Richter) mad, and they are left under the care of Mary Bee Cuddy (Hilary Swank). Cuddy enlists the help of George Briggs (Tommy Lee Jones) to transport the women to Iowa. Together, the head east, where a minister and his wife (Meryl Streep) offered to take the women in.However, the unlikely group must first go through the harsh Nebraska Territories, psychological danger and threat.
According to Screen Rant, ever since the film’s release in the 2014 Festival de Cannes, critics have been offering their fair share of perceptions about the overall elements that make the film, highlighting its praiseworthy points as well as the disappointing ones. In Variety, they hailed the medium by recognizing the factors that the film bear as a powerful cross-country Western presentation and is backed by a heavy set of prolific actors. Film.com, on the other hand, expressed their dissatisfaction on how the plot’s tendency to appear jagged and is paired up overly fictional characters. Despite releasing such a heavy-set criticism, critics still recognized the film’s unique presentation of the Western.
“The Homesman” is directed and co-written by veteran actor Tommy Lee Jones. Apart from award-winning lead actress Hilary Swank, he is also joined by Meryl Streep, Hailee Steinfeld, Tim Blake Nelson, James Spader, William Fichtner, and Jesse Plemons. Expectations are surely a hefty when you come to terms with the film veterans. The film will be released in the U.S. on Nov. 14, 2014.
