Top 10 Most Searched Movies in 2015; See List Here

Before Finding Dory, Star Trek Beyond, and X-Men Apocalypse invade the theaters in 2016, we’ll look back at the most searched films in 2015. Check out Google Trends’ list below (in no particular order) and see if your favorite movie made it on the top 10.

Jurassic World-the actors did well in acting, as well as pronouncing the dinosaur names. Parasaurolophus, anyone? Although we do not like the idea of having dinosaurs as pets in real life, this movie made us wonder what would Earth be like if they still exist. Steven Spielberg did great once more, as the film’s domestic total gross skyrocketed to $652 million. But the dinosaurs are not planning to retire anytime soon. Jurassic World will have a sequel in June 2018.

Birdman– the film was released in 2014, but still made it on the list of 2015 popular films. It deals with the story of former cinema superhero Riggan Thomson who struggled to breathe new life to his career. The film won the Best Picture in the Academy Awards and earned more than $103 million.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo– the Indian romantic drama, which translates to “Receive a Treasure Called Love“, got $60 million worldwide. It was about the happy-go-lucky Yuvraj Vijay Singh (Salman Khan) who met princess Maithili (Sonam Kapoor).  The princess was known for being a kind lady who helped people.

Spectre- the 24th James Bond movie did not disappoint its fans. It is in fact one of the most expensive films ever, costing around $300 million. Not bad, as it generates more than $850 million in domestic total. In case you haven’t watched it, Spectre is a global criminal organisation who go against James Bond.

Mad Max– Google did not state if it was the 1979 film, the dystopian action film showing how the world plunged into war and financial chaos after oil has been depleted. While there are still a lot of searches on the old film, there are more queries with the Mad Max: Fury Road. The said film earned eight awards from the Australian Film Institute Awards.

Straight Outta Compton– the biographical drama film narrates the rise and fall of hip hop group Niggaz Wit Attitudes. The group were active from late 80’s to early 90’s. In spite of its epic length, the film boasts a fairly dense plot.

Minions- Kids and kids at heart went crazy over them, regardless of the fact that people hardly understand their language. We know Stuart, Kevin, and Bob but truth is Gru has minions more than what we can imagine.

Fifty Shade of Grey- although it started out as a Twilight fan fiction, the plots of two films are planets away from each other. Thanks to the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy, the sales of duct tape, cable ties, and rope at a local hardware increased. Seriously, the movie is as powerful as the book, whose main audience are middle-aged women.

American Sniper- starred by hottie Bradley Cooper, American Sniper became a subject to many historians. According to Times, some scenes in the 2014 movie are not all true including Kyle shooting a young boy carrying a grenade.

Furious 7- there’s no doubt why Furious 7 is also one of the Top 10 Pirated Movies of 2015. While fans want more, there’s no one available director to take care of the installment as of this moment. It may not be the last, but it feels like it is the farewell because of Paul Walker’s last ever appearance.
