The Grammy Awards has a long history of epic and unforgettable moments. This year, another string of performances were in for the spotlight. Read on as we give you eight of the best live performances in the recently concluded 57th Annual Grammy Awards night.
- Beck and Chris Martin’s “Heart Is a Drum”
Coldplay‘s Chris Martin teamed up with Beck for the song “Heart Is A Drum.” Aside from the wonderful performance, who would forget that part when Kanye West went up on stage while Beck was there to accept the Album of the Year award? It’s another Kanye stunt that made Beyoncé and Jay Z nervous.
- Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett’s “Cheek to Cheek”
The Mother Monster’s jazzy duet with Tony Bennett was radiant! Without Lady Gaga’s signature flashy outfits, she wowed the audience with her singing prowess this time.
- AC/DC’s greatest hits medley
Australian band and hardrock legend AC/DC kicked off the awards night with an awesome medley of “Rock or Bust” and “Highway to Hell.” They certainly did not lose the spark yet as audience rocking out to their songs. Who can resist Angus Young with his schoolboy uniform and the band’s signature riffs and sound? Certainly not Katy Perry who, like most of the audience, wore the devil horns.
- Usher and Stevie Wonder’s “If It’s Magic”
R&B singer Usher paid tribute to Stevie Wonder by singing “If It’s Magic.” He was joined by Mr. Wonder himself playing the harmonica. No showing off his famous abs this time from Usher, just pure amazing vocals, and it was magic!
- Sia’s “Chandelier” featuring Kristen Wiig and Maddie Ziegler
“Saturday Night Live” star Kristen Wiig amazed the audience with her dance moves together with Maddie Ziegler. The two danced to Sia’s “Chandelier” in matching nude leotard and, of course, the wig.
- Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” and a special appearance by Annie Lennox
Irish singer-songwriter Hozier attended the Grammys for his first nomination for Song of the Year award. He performed his hit single “Take Me to Church” and was joined on stage by the Eurhythmics songstress Annie Lennox. The two sang the chorus of “Take Me to Church” before segueing to Annie Lennox’s rendition of “I Put a Spell on You.” The crowed was awed. Period.
- Beyoncé’s “Take My Hand, Precious Lord”
- Sam Smith and Mary J. Blige’s “Stay With Me”
He is the man of the night. Aside from taking home four major awards (Record of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Performance and Song of the Year), there is no stopping Sam Smith from stealing the show with his performance at the Grammys. He wonderfully sang his hit single “Stay With Me” with Mary J. Blige.
