It has been 29 years to the last “Top Gun” and after all these years, we will have “Top Gun 2.” The best part is Tom Cruise is going to be there to reprise the role of Maverick. Skydance Productions had wanted Tony Scott only to direct the second instalment “Top Gun 2” but after his death, the sequel had been in question. But since all is confirmed now, the script is being written by Justin Marks. Read on.
The Guardian reported that Skydance CEO David Ellison, while promoting “Terminator Genisys” in Berlin, informed the press that the plot will be emphasizing on “drone technology and fifth generation fighters. “Top Gun 2” will see a lot of dogfighting and fighter pilots.
The new movie will most probably be in 3D andin IMAX. Ellison also said that since everyone knows Cruise and the fact that he himself is going to be in those planes. It was also reported that an amazing script is in works for the Hollywood actor.
When asked about Cruise, Ellison said, “There is no Top Gun without Maverick, and it is going to be Maverick playing Maverick.” Ellison said they are planning to start filming as soon as possible but it will all depend on the script.
Meanwhile, Skydance has “Terminator Genisys” hitting the cinemas on 1 July, 2015 and Cruise has “Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation” coming on 31 July, 2015.
“Top Gun” in 1986 had made Maverick and we hope the new script writes another beautiful chapter of it. “Top Gun” movie budget was that of $35 million and it estimated on box-office at $356.8 million. “Top Gun” has many credentials to its name including People’s Choice Awards, 1987 for Favorite Motion Picture; it ranked at 455 out 500 greatest film of all time by Empire, 2008; Yahoo! Movies ranked “Top Gun” #19 on their list of greatest action films of all-time.
