“Toy Story 4” will see the return of well-loved characters, Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Slinky Dog, Rex, Mr. and Mrs. Potato, Jessie, and the rest of the toys. Pixar President Jim Morris recently revealed that the film is not a sequel, but rather a romantic comedy with less focus on the interaction between the toys and humans. Will Woody find a new love interest? Read on to learn more about this scoop.
It has been nearly a decade since the first “Toy Story” movie hit the theatres. While most fans thought that “Toy Story 3” marked the end of the famous Disney Pixar franchise, fans were shocked after a sequel to the animated film was revealed in 2014.
Morris recently revealed in a post on Disney Latino blog that “Toy Story 4” is not a sequel to the first three installments of the franchise. Morris said that the film, which is slated for a release in 2017, has a completely different story.
“The third film ended in a beautiful way and completed a trilogy,” Morris told the outlet.
As a matter of fact, “Toy Story 4” is said to take on a romantic comedy spin with less focus on the interaction between the characters and children. This proved that the upcoming Disney Pixar movie will be different, as the first three movies highlighted the relationship that Andy shares with Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the toys.
Meanwhile, fans began speculating possible storylines for the upcoming “Toy Story 4” following news that the film will be a romantic comedy. One popular theory is that Woody may find a new love interest, as his former partner, Bo Peep, suddenly went missing in “Toy Story 3.”
MoviePilot cited several possible explanations behind Bo Peep’s sudden and mysterious disappearance. According to the outlet, Andy’s mom could have put out Bo Peep during the yard sale or she could have been donated to Sunnyside Daycare or the actress who was voicing for her could have been simply busy.
“Toy Story 4” comes out in theatres on June 16, 2017. Stay tuned on Movie News Guide (MNG) for more updates.
