Toy Story 4, the upcoming 3D computer-animated romantic comedy film is not coming out any time soon. However, fans have already started speculating the events that are likely to occur in the highly anticipated sequel. This film is the fourth installment of the Toy Story series which is helmed by John Lasseter.
Latest Update & New Story Angle Of Toy Story 4
Toy Story 4 will focus on a romantic relationship between Woody and Bo Peep. Woody, along with his friend Buzz Lightyear begins his epic journey to find the whereabouts of his love. Their former owner, Andy, gave them to a young girl, Bonnie by the end of Toy Story 3 and the story of Toy Story 4 picks up from there.
Woody and Bo almost kissed each other in Toy Story 2 but their relationship never blossomed. The latest installment is likely to shed light on their emotions. Director John Lasseter previously mentioned that “We love these characters so much; they are like family to us. We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before. We came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie—and I wanted to direct it myself”. (Via Variety)
Pixar president Jim Morris also noted that this film isn’t going to be a continuation of the last part. However, it will be a stand-alone sequel; this is going to be an entirely different story. It includes Tom Hanks (as Woody), Tim Allen (as Buzz Lightyear), Don Rickles (as Mr. Potato Head) and Laurie Metcalf (as Andy’s mom) in the voice cast.
Critical Response & Success Of Toy Story Franchise
The CGI animated film series began in 1995 with its first film Toy Story. It became a universally acclaimed film that broke several box-office records. All the other sequels of the franchise have done fairly well both domestically and worldwide. It has remained one of the highest-rated series of all time. It is speculated that the upcoming version will surpass the success of all previous installments.
For now, the film has taken a back seat since Disney and Pixar are busy with the upcoming films like The Incredibles 2 and Cars 3. Toy Story 4 is set to be released on June 21, 2019.
