She was just 31 and the medical expert of ABC News. Dr. Jamie Zimmerman, died while was vacationing in Hawaii. Several reports have confirmed this news.
The New York Daily News reported that this young reporter and medical researcher was trying to cross River Lumhai in Kauai all by herself when this tragic incident took place. The incident happened this Monday and Jamie was swept out to sea.
According to reports, lifeguards were sent to rescue Zimmerman from the sea with the aid of jet skis and brought her back to land. Thereafter, CPR was performed on her by the medics who were waiting for her arrival but local police confirmed that Jamie passed away at a local hospital.
On Thursday, James Goldston, President of ABC News shared a memo with all ABC News staff in New York, informing them of the tragic news, as reported by Variety. Jamie’s mother took to Facebook to share a message where she confirmed about the tragic death of her daughter.
Jordon Zimmerman also shared the accomplishments of her late daughter, stating that she was a Rhodes Scholar finalist, recipient of Charles E. Young Humanitarian Award, and earned her doctor title from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
Jamie’s mother had ended the post on Facebook in an emotional message where she described her deceased daughter as her pride, role model, and joy. Jordon also wrote that she would always love her daughter and it thrilled her that Jamie loved living her life to the fullest.
She also mentioned that she will miss her daughter always and will meet her again in the other world. What an agony for this grieving mother whose daughter died so young!
