Warner Brothers Pictures presents the sci-fi movie “Transcendence” which opens in U.S. theatres on April 17, 2014. It is directed by Wally Pfister. Its cast members include Johnny Depp (Will Caster), Kate Mara (Bree), Morgan Freeman (Joseph), Rebecca Hall (Evelyn) and Paul Bettany (Max Waters).

“Transcendence” Film Synopsis:

The film is about Dr. Will Caster, a renowned scientist in the field of artificial intelligence. He is working on a machine that can combine the intelligence of everything ever known with human emotions. His experiments made him a famous scientist that he is today, but aside from the fame, it has made him a sole target of the anti-technology activists. However, in their attempt to stop Caster, they in fact enable him to pursue his work by being a partaker in his transcendence.

Caster’s wife, Evelyn, and his best friend, Max, decide whether they should proceed with the research.

Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer has revealed that 98% of moviegoers would like to see “Transcendence.”

Unknown to many, “Transcendence” is Wally Pfister’s debut as a director. He has work alongside Christopher Nolan and has won an Oscar for his cinematography. In an interview with Los Angeles Times, Pfister shared his thoughts and experiences while filming the movie.

With a good plot and a $100-million budget, Pfister recalled how “Transcendence” may be too much for his debut. He told Nolan that the movie was indeed a good project. However, Pfister’s hesitation was triggered by the thought that the film might be too much for his first take. He shared how Nolan responded to his hesitations, “Absolutely not. You know how to handle this scope of filmmaking. And storytelling is the same whether you’re dealing with $100 million or $10 million,” said Nolan to Pfister as published in Los Angeles Times.

Since we are now in a world where technology plays a vital role, where it can make or break a nation, it seems only fitting to mark Pfister’s words upon reading the plot of “Transcendence.” “The question is whether we’re going to take advantage of technology or technology is going to take advantage of us,” said Pfister in the Los Angeles Times report.

And that’s the “Transcendence” preview. Watch “Transcendence” Transcendence as it opens in U.S. theatres on April 17, 2014. Stay tuned for more movie reviews here on Movie News Guide (MNG).
