The “Transformers 5” and “G.I. Joe” movie mash-up has been the talk of the town for quite some time now. Sadly though, even if both films are owned by the same studio, Paramount, producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ian Bryce stated that the crossover is highly unlikely to happen. In other reports, the current plot trend for the fifth installment of “Transformers” is based on the franchise’s 1986 animated movie.
The “Transformers: Age of Extinction” was a big success since it was released back in 2014, even if it got a lot of negative flack from critics. This movie, with a 200 million dollar budget, was able to rake in a staggering amount of 1 billion dollars. With this much success, one shouldn’t be surprised that another installment for the Transformers franchise is already being worked on.
From the introduction of sentient mechanical beings in “Transformers 1” to the introduction of gigantic and ancient dinosaur robots in “Transformers 4,” what does Paramount intend on doing for the next installment of the “Transformers” series?
Well some reports and rumors say that the next film will merge the “Transformers” universe along with the elite soldiers from “G.I. Joe.” When you think about it, the two films would make a highly intense and highly action packed movie, perfect for Sci-Fi fans looking for a fresh story.
However, just as the glee and excitement over the possible crossover could fully get traction, the producers for “Transformers,” Bonaventura and Bryce, said in an interview that this possibility is highly unlikely to happen in the near future. Bonaventura said that since there are a lot more stories to be told for both franchise, the idea of a crossover would be on hold till then, as reported by Vine Report.
What can happen though, based on the last scene of “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” is that the plot of the upcoming film will be based on the Transformers’ 1986 animated movie. In addition to Optimus’ final act on the fourth installment as evidence for the plot of the upcoming film, is the introduction Ultra Magnus; as reported by Gospel Herald. If this were the case, then it’s sayonara Optimus Prime. If you were able to watch the 1986 movie, then you’ll know that Prime will die and Ultra Magnus will take the mantle of leader for the Autobots.
