Transformers: The Last Knight will be the fifth installment in the Transformers franchise. Helmed by Michael Bay, the movie almost did not make it with him.
With the franchise grossing billions of dollars and a fan base so huge, a fifth movie had to be made for the right reason. At the recently held CinemaCon, Bay revealed the real reason why he came back for the fifth movie.
Talking to Comicbook.com, Bay stated two instances where he had to be adamant so as to get the movie according to his wish. According to the Transformers director, he was going to walk away from the franchise when he proposed to have some real good writers in front of the studio.
It was only after he got a bunch of writers onboard for the project and locked them in a room at the studio did he receive great stories that he could use to take the franchise further.
The writers went through the deep history from the beginning of time while being surrounded by images and life-size statues to come up with some great ideas.
Once there were enough story ideas, Bay added that he and Steven Spielberg started to center around two stories and mashed them into one. Ken Nolan, writer of Black Hawk Down came together with Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway to write the fifth movie’s script.
Another time he had to put his foot down was when it came to shooting the movie. The director stated that studios are killing 3D by asking makers to shoot and post-convert everything.
When he was asked to do the same thing, he firmly stated that if he will be doing this movie, he would do it in a way that has never been done before.
Further elaborating on how he shot the movie, he stated that using two Arri 65 cameras and strapping them together, they made real IMAX 3D. As a result, Transformers: The Last Knight is the first time fans will see true and real IMAX 3D.
As the movie gears up for release this June, it will feature a tale of survival between humans and Transformers. There is a deep history of Transformers on Earth, which will be explored in this movie.
As the battle between humans and Transformers wages, Earth’s survival will depend on Mark Wahlberg’s Cade Yeager, Bumblebee, an English Lord and an Oxford Professor.
Also with Optimus Prime gone, it would be seen how will the events unfold and whether humans will be able to figure out what makes the transformers come back to Earth again and again.
Trailer for the movie was released some time back and it picks up from the war that has already been raged on Earth. Anthony Hopkins’ character can be seen questioning as to why do the Transformers keep on coming to Earth especially when there are so many planets in the cosmos.
The war seems gruesome as only a handful of humans along with Bumblebee can be seen fighting the Transformers. The real twist in the trailer is when Optimus Prime can be seen pinning Bumblebee down and probably stabbing him fatally.
While Optimus has been the protector and ally of humans, it does come across as surprising as to why would he do something like that. He must be forced to do that as he can be seen apologizing to Bumblebee. According to the synopsis of the movie, either their or the human world will survive in the raging battle.
Transformers: The Last Knight will release this year on June 23.
