Transformers Spinoff Bumblebee Will Be Directed By Travis Knight, No Plans To Close Laika Studio

Travis Knight outwardly declares that he is very happy to work on the Transformers Spinoff Bumblebee. After making his directorial debut with Kubo And The Two Strings, the director is now geared up to work on this upcoming project.

The trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight or Transformers 5 did show that Optimus Prime is fighting with Bumblebee and the former was just about to kill him. What will happen to Bumblebee in Transformers Spinoff? How will the script for the upcoming project introduce the character to make it appear interesting for audiences?

Talking further over the Transformers Spinoff, Bumbleebee, it is likely to get released on June 8, 2018. Moreover, Tom Warner, the Transformers franchise leader for Hasbro did say that the movie cannot be connected to Transformers 6. On the whole, the spinoff is a new film to become a part of the series and will talk about one of the characters named Bumblebee. The upcoming film will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Michael Bay, and Steven Spielberg. Christina Hodson will helm the screenplay.


Knight has never worked with big projects before Bumblebee, which will mark as his first experience on a live action movie. He is the founder and CEO of a small animated studio called Laika. His recently released film Kubo And The Two Strings did receive some rave reviews.

Travis Knight Excited For The Upcoming Movie

How was the experience with his directorial movie like for Knight? He openly shares that the movie has been full of “imperfections and failings.” However, it is a major point which everyone has to deal with. He adds that the imperfections cannot be considered as a drawback as they help in making every film human.

With Transformers Spinoff Bumblebee, is Knight going to stop working on his studio Laika? The director says that he has no plans to close the studio. And he will work on at least one feature per year would figure on his to-do list. But what can one say it would be too early to reach a conclusion. Maybe there are several other blockbusters waiting for him and he would be left with no time for Laika reports The Verge.

Transformers 5 or Transformers: The Last Knight will release on theaters on June 23’2018 just a few days after Bumblebee.
