After starring in the well-acclaimed ‘The Theory of Everything’ as real-life modern physicist Stephen Hawking and earning an Oscar for it, Eddie Redmayne is currently up for another movie to be released on Thanksgiving weekend.

On Wednesday, March 4, Focus Features CEO Peter Schlessel announced that the transgender film ‘Danish Girl’ will be released locally by Focus Features through exclusive engagements in New York and Los Angeles on Nov. 27, 2015, and in the international market through their team-up with Universal Pictures International.

Starring Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander, the movie is directed by Academy Award-winning director Tom Hooper of ‘The King’s Speech’ and ‘Les Misérables’. The story is based on a novel of the same name written by David Ebershoff. The screenplay is then written by Lucinda Coxon. The cast include Matthias Schoenaerts, Ben Whishaw, and Amber Heard.

Set in Copenhagen during the 1920s, the story revolves around married couple and artists Einar and Gerda Wegener. Due to one of her models not being able to come over, Gerda persuaded her husband to pose for her in women’s clothes.

Situation changed in their work and married life when Einar decided to transform into one of the world’s first transgender women and rename himself as Lili Elbe.

In an interview with MailOnline, Redmayne revealed that he has been slimming down to look as slender as a female for the movie. He has also been working on ‘… the minutiae of feminine physicality’ with movement director Alexandra Reynolds, who previously helped him out to choreograph his movements as Hawking in ‘The Theory of Everything’.

Also, Redmayne has also done further research on his role and has even spoken with members of the transgender community. “The danger of surgery was so extreme [back in the 1920s]. It’s such a brave thing that Einar did… I think [playing Einar/Lili is] the most sensitive role I have played,” Redmayne said.
