Transparent” Season 1 Episode 9 “Looking Up” is already available on Amazon Prime for streaming. After finding comfort in Shelly because of the incident at the talent show, it was now Maura’s turn to give comfort to her ex-wife. Meanwhile, the kids’ personal issues sprung up. Read on to know what happened in “Looking Up.”

The episode opened with Maura (Jeffrey Tambor) and Shelly (Judith Light) looking over Ed. He’s sick and dying. Maura told Shelly to start weighing her options, to which she replied that sometimes she did a bit of googling to look into what can be done for Ed. It’s very evident that the two ex-couple now maintain a deeper relationship than when they were married that when Shelly told the children of her plans for Ed and they disagreed, she snapped and said that it was only Maura who was always there for her.

It was back to 1994, and Shelly found out that Mort actually went to a trans camp. Mort defended that the camp, however, was more than just men dressing as women. There was dancing, and sometimes the wives come.

Shelly: Are you saying you want me to go with you?
Mort: Guys bring their wives, and it’s not what you think. It’s a wonderful, wonderful community, and I’d love to share it with you.

Shelly was mortified.

Back to the present day, and Maura and Shelly were at the latter’s kitchen sharing a snack. This was after the “Trans Got Talent” fiasco, and Shelly asked if Maura still wanted to date women.

Maura: Yes. Shelly, it’s still me.
Shelly: So, you’re a lesbian? So, we got gay married before it was fashionable!

The two laughed at Shelly’s comment.

Meanwhile, Sarah (Amy Landecker) was starting to feel conflicted about her feelings for Tammy and Len. One time, when she picked up the kids from Len’s place, the two got along really well, and he even cracked a joke when she told him she’s taking pot. Later, the ex-couple had a pot session together, and it looked like old feelings resurfaced. She started telling Len about the things that bug her about Tammy. But she also learned that Len was already dating his secretary.

Tammy’s stepdaughter, Bianca, was now living with Josh (Jay Duplass) because she was kicked out of Sarah and Tammy’s place. Raquel, the woman Josh was seeing, learned about this when the two were trying to work out their relationship, and it lead to an argument. Josh swore that Bianca was only crashing temporarily. The argument with Raquel got so intense that the two ended up having sex for the first time. Later, Josh declared to his family that he was in love with the rabbi, much to the delight of Shelly, who credited herself for bringing them together. Ali, however, was not happy about this latest development.

Ali (Gaby Hoffman) learned that Josh and her best friend Syd slept together. But Syd confessed that she was actually in love with Ali for many years. Ali’s emotions went on a tailspin, and it only got worse when her mother decided to ease’s Ed’s sufferings and let him die peacefully.

But while the Pffeffermans were discussing what to do with Ed, the old man snuck out of the house again, and then viewers were treated to flashback with a younger Ed who was charming the Pffefferman kids, telling everyone, including Shelly, that he’s in their life to make them happy.

And that’s what happened on “Transparent” Season 1 Episode 9 “Looking Up,” which subscribers to Amazon Prime can now watch on the streaming site. Come back tomorrow for the final recap to the first season of this charming and touching family series here on Movie News Guide (MNG).
