Hollywood is all about reboots and remakes from books to television to movies. Producers and film makers not only look towards the yesteryears for material, but movies that have since then been released during the century or decade are already being made. In this case, everyone’s favorite driver, mercenary and delivery man is back with a brand-new look and a brand-new take. According to Variety, the “Transporter Legacy,” the first in the reboot trilogy of the original “Transporter” films, will be driving into cinemas on March 6, 2015. Read on to learn more about this story.
The original “Transporter” series tells the story of a mercenary driver who is willing to deliver any kind of package for a particular price. The original action-packed film starred Jason Statham as the titular “Transporter” — Frank Miller. However, the reboot will shake things up a little as Jason Statham gives up the wheel to “Game of Thrones” actor Ed Skrein, who will be portraying Frank Miller in the new trilogy.
The premise of the “Transporter” and the “Transporter Legacy” will remain the same — Frank Miller will be asked to deliver packages for a price. However, in this first film, Miller will find himself in the underbelly of Paris. There, he meets a girl named Ana (Loan Chabanol), who is the leader of a group of assailants. She enlists his help in going against a Russian human trafficking ring while keeping his father hostage to ensure his cooperation. The film will also star Gabriella Wright, Anatole Taubman and Radivoje Bukvic.
The film will be directed by Camille Delamarre and will feature characters written by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen. Europa Corp’s Lc Besson, who also produced the first “Transporter” trilogy and the “Taken” films, will produce the film alongside Fundamental Films’ Mark Gao.
“Transporter Legacy” will be released on March 16, 2015, in the United States by EuropaCorp, who is just fresh from the successful release of Luc Besson and Scarlett Johansson’s action-packed film, “Lucy.”
That’s it for the “Transporter Legacy” update, which opens in U.S. theaters on March 16, 2015. For more news and updates on upcoming movies, keep on following Movie News Guide.
