Hollywood icon Robin Williams will be remembered at the 2014 Emmy Awards, which will be held at the Nokia Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, Calif. It will be broadcast on NBC on Monday, Aug. 25, 2014. Read on to learn more about the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards’s tribute to the late Robin Williams.
A commemoration of the actor’s life will be included in the show as announced the Emmys producer Don Mischer.
“With the tragic loss of Robin, we’re trying to deal with that and figure out what to do in the right, appropriate and meaningful way. It’s about what can we do to properly remember Robin and create perhaps an emotional moment about Robin, knowing all that he did for all of us who love entertainment and love comedy,” said Mischer to TV Guide.
Mischer worked with Williams on many projects in the past, including the brief 1977 renewal of “Laugh-In” and HBO’s 1982 special “An Evening with Robin Williams.”
“Robin was constantly surprising us. [He] would come out on stage and go someplace you’d never dreamed he would go. “He always had you off-guard. Directors would get nervous about what he was going to do. And he brought so much spontaneity. It was always refreshing,” added Mischer about his experience of working with Wiliams.
Williams was an nine-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee, winning twice in the Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program category for 1987’s “Carol, Carl, Whoopi, and Robin” and 1988’s “ABC Presents: A Royal Gala.”
His most recent nominations came in 2010 for Outstanding Comedy Special for “Robin Williams: Weapons of Self Destruction” and in 2008 for his guest starring role on an episode of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”
Outpouring of tributes for the legendary funnyman continues as Ben Stiller, the San Francisco Giants, President Barack Obama, Kardashians, Ellen, Miley Cyrus and many more have paid veneration to the late Williams. Late night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Conan O’Brien both dedicated part of their shows to muse over about Williams’ remarkable appearances.
