We here on Movie News Guide (MNG) are happy to tell you that we have some details, and we mean real details about HBO’s crime, mystery thriller “True Detective.” Nic Pizzolatto revealed the information in the radio program To the Best of Our Knowledge.
Pizzolatto said that they were eyeing on three leads for this season, and the setting will be in California. He pointed out that the specific location choices include those much-lesser known spots in the state. Pizzolatto added that they are still trying to capture the “psychosphere ambiance” of the place just like what they did in Season 1.
Meanwhile, the anthology format of “True Detective” confirms that fans of the show will no longer see Matthew McConaughey as Rust Cohle and Woody Harrelson as Marty Harty. Pizzolatto confirmed that all the characters will be new, but he was “deeply in love with each of them.” He also noted that their team would be casting in the coming months and that the scripts are already laid out.
In an interview with HitFix, Pizzolatto gave out some details on what would be the focus of Season 2. He mentioned that it would be about “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history in the United States transportation system.”
Since Pizzolatto is yet to confirm who specifically the characters are, the fans still continue to speculate who to watch out for in the much-awaited show. On Thursday night, May 22, 2014, at the Hotel du Cap in Cannes, Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty”) ended the rumours and clarified that she was not part of the crime-busting program. She explained how that news broke in the Internet and got everybody acting crazy.
Chastain pointed out that she was a fan of the series and would still watch the Season 2. “It’s an awkward thing because when all that attention happens — it takes away from whoever plays the role,” said Chastain as reported in Variety.
