Four years after Breaking Dawn Part II, Lionsgate is looking to release a new movie about Bella Swan and Edward Cullen of The Twilight Saga. However, with Kristen Stewart seemingly uninterested to return, it seems like another actress is willing to step up and snag her role.
The Vampire Diaries actress, Nina Dobrev, apparently wants to star in the next installation to Stephanie Meyers’ epic vampire love story. The 27-year-old star is currently looking to land a role in a big blockbuster movie to launch her name into super-stardom. According to Inquisitr, she is after a role in the planned new movie.
With The Divergent Series: Ascendant moving to television, Lionsgate is looking to revive the multi-million-dollar young adult franchise. The studio chief, Patrick Wachsberger, revealed that a new Twilight movie is “a possibility.” He clarified, “[i]f [Stephanie Meyer] wants to tell a story related to those characters, we’re here for her.”
There certainly are a lot more materials that have not been explored by the five blockbuster movies. There is still The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, for example, a novella that recounted the transformation and experience of a newborn vampire in Eclipse. Meyer also recently published Life and Death: Twilight Re-imagined, a gender-swapped re-telling of Twilight.
Stewart has already expressed disinterest in the planned project. While she said she loved portraying Bella Swan on the big screen, the 26-year-old actress explained that she does not want to keep doing it forever. Pattinson has yet to make a statement, but considering his overall dislike of the vampire story.
Meanwhile, Dobrev is grateful for Twilight for starting the craze for paranormal love stories, including The Vampire Diaries. She told MTV a few years ago that, “I’m very happy that they exist because we exist because of them. Their success is our success. I’m kind of sad the movies are almost over.”
