Some thought it was plastic surgery while others thought it was simply the magic of makeup and cosmetics. Now, after many days of speculation, Uma Thurman finally decided to tell all about her new face. Read on to learn more about it.
On Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, Thurman appeared on the ‘Today’ show to talk about her new miniseries ‘The Slap’. And as expected due to the buzz surrounding the topic lately, Thurman was asked by Savannah Guthrie to tell more about her new and rather unrecognizable look when stepped on the red carpet for the miniseries’ premiere on Monday, Feb. 9, 2015.
Thurman started off by keeping it light and joked that not many people liked her new look, revealing that it was actually because of an experimental touch of makeup. Viewers were more inclined to believe her on this one, as she looked more like the natural beauty that everyone knew during the interview.
In an interview with Refinery29.com, her makeup artist Troy Surratt revealed the magic that he did on Thurman’s face for the premiere night. According to Surratt, he was trying on “a French sort of feel.” He focused on highlighting Thurman’s brows and lip by placing creamy foundation and contouring her hairline and cheekbones. And for that intriguing lip color we’ve been looking at, Surratt revealed it to be his color in Mégalomane mixed with Peccadille.
As for Thurman’s most talked about eyes, Surratt explained that he wanted to take off the concept of using fake lashes by placing a silky-beige shadow on Thurman’s eyelids and shaded her brows for an added, uplifting effect.
With regards to the comments she received because of her makeup, Thurman shared some statement. Although, she also added that she probably won’t be using that look again.
“I’ve been [getting comments] for years and years and years — people say things nice and they say things mean and it’s like whatever. You take the good with the bad.” Thurman said in the Today Show interview.
