Universal Pictures has unveiled the title for the seventh installment of its "Fast and Furious" franchise, as well as announcing the release of the movie's official trailer. Read on for further details of this story.
Previously known as "Fast and Furious 7," the seventh installment of the high-speed franchise ditches the “fast” in its title, now officially named “Furious 7.” This will be the first film in the series which omitted the word “fast” in its title, as oppose to the previous films: “2 Fast 2 Furious,” “Fast & Furious,” “Fast Five” and “Fast & Furious 6.” The official announcement came from the Fast & Furious Facebook page, which premiered with a poster for the film last Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014.

Set after the events of “Fast & Furious 6” and “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift,” after the defeat of Owen Shaw and his crew in the previous pic, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) and the rest of the crew are able to return to the United States and live a normal life again. However, Owen's older brother, Ian Shaw (Jason Statham), is after Dominic, seeking revenge for the death of his brother, putting the entire crew in danger once more. After learning of Han's death, the crew sets out to find the man who killed one of their own before he finds them first.
The film stars Vin Diesel, the late Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Tony Jaa, Kurt Russel, Ludacris, Lucas Black and Jason Statham. Iggy Azalea are set to make a cameo appearance in the film. The pic marks the final film appearance of Paul Walker, who died on Nov. 30, 2013 while the film was still in production. His brothers, Cody and Caleb, appeared in the pic to fill in for his role. “Furious 7” is written by Chris Morgan and directed by James Wan. It will open in the big screens on April 3, 2015.
