unREAL” Season 1 Episode 3 “Mother” aired last Monday, June 8, 2015 at 10:00 p.m. on Lifetime. In this episode, things went a little bit out of hand after Quinn King (Constance Zimmer) left Shia (Aline Elasmar) in charge of the cocktail party and dinner that three of the contestants would be attending so that Adam Cromwell’s (Freddie Stroma) best friend could pick which among the three would go on a day long date with Adam. Meanwhile, Rachel dealt with her parents, and the reasons she had for staying on the show became a little bit clearer, while Chet Wilton (Craig Bierko) had a health scare of his own. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode opened with a scene that was being taped for “Everlasting.” Adam Cromwell’s (Freddie Stroma) best friend, Roger Lockwood (Tom Brittney) was introduced as the one who would be picking the contestant who would go with Adam for a day-long date. Three of the girls would get picked during the cocktail party the next night, to go to a dinner date with Adam and Roger, and from there, Roger would pick the lucky girl. Afterwards, Rachel Goldberg (Shiri Appleby) gave instructions to the cameramen, ignored her mother’s phone calls. She quickly reminded Adam that he couldn’t insult her using the leaked video message as she, as his producer, could ruin him in a second on national television.

After instructing Shia (Aline Elasmar) to work on Maya (Natasha Wilson) to become a potential wife for Adam, Quinn King (Constance Zimmer) told Rachel, who had come to complain about her very low paycheck, to take a break and to disappear from the set for a while as punishment for taking her eyes off of Adam for a second. It had allowed him to privately hook up with Grace (Nathalie Kelley) in the trailer. They then caught Anna Martin (Johanna Braddy) binging on Cheezy Puffs, which, according to Quinn was her “marker food.” It meant that she knew when to stop inducing herself to vomit when she saw the orange in her vomit. She then told Rachel to throw away the Cheezy Puffs. It was because Anna “lying in a pool” of her own vomit would make good television.

She then did this and warned Grace to be more discreet about seeing Adam alone because she might get cut out of the show if she didn’t.

Meanwhile, Jeremy reassured Lizzie (Siobhan Williams) that he didn’t want to leave the show. Rachel, in the video message had talked about the two of them leaving for New York together. Later, they reconciled with each other. Before Rachel left, Jeremy told Rachel that she could have left a long time ago as she had rich parents. He then told her that he believed that she had stayed on the show because she secretly liked manipulating people.

Elsewhere, before the cocktail party, Shia encouraged Maya to be a little bit wilder to impress Roger, and gave her some shots beforehand. This tactic worked, which caused Roger to pick Maya, Grace and Anna for the romantic dinner that night. However, things quickly turned into something else. Maya then decided to strip down to her swimsuit so that they could all swim together in the pool, much to Roger’s delight.

Meanwhile, Chet Wilton (Craig Bierko) became worried about his health because of Anna’s father’s death. Instead, he got high and slept with Quinn, which later on caused him to have something that resembled a heart attack. Later, Cynthia Wilton (Sonya Salomaa) thanked Quinn for having an affair with her husband. It was because that meant that he wouldn’t “stray too far”, which didn’t help Quinn’s mood at all.

At Rachel’s parent’s house, Rachel’s mother, Dr. Olive Goldberg (Mimi Kuzyk), a psychologist, who had self-diagnosed her husband, and who had diagnosed her daughter to have a million mental issues. When asked for some money, she told Rachel that she would only do so if Rachel began therapy with her again. This caused Rachel to break down, and later on decided to tear the checks she was given.

Back at “Everlasting,” Rachel quickly put a stop to the loud music and the party that was going on, where Anna, Grace, and Adam were increasingly getting disgusted at Maya’s and Roger’s behavior. Rachel then rescued Maya, who looked as if something bad had happened between her and Roger in the boathouse.

Adam then learned that Roger had been sent by his father, who didn’t believe in him, to stop trying to be independent and to stop fixing his reputation by himself, which led to the two exchanging blows. Later, instead of Anna, Adam chose Maya to be his day-long date.

Quinn then lashed out at Rachel and demanded that she fix things. She did by causing a cat fight between Anna and Grace by telling Anna that Grace had been spreading rumors about her eating disorder. It caused Anna to reveal that Grace is currently sleeping her way to the top.

This caused Quinn, who smartly ditched Chet, to share a cigarette with Rachel, and claimed that Rachel was “home.”
