According to Reality Today, it was learned in the episode that Rumple has murdered his own wife and with whom Hook was in love too. Rumpled also cut Hook’s left hand. Rumple could have put him to death, but instead he chose to let him go. As the episode 10 reached climax, all of us had seen Hook has decided to take all the Dark Ones to the land without magic, Storybrooke.

He wants to avenge Emma no doubt.
