Yes, one of the most awaited films of the year, This Means War, has its release date positioned a few days in advance, on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2012.

The movie is being produced by Twentieth Century Fox. Actually the release of the movie was timed for Presidents Day weekend but now there is confirmed news that the movie is releasing on Valentine’s Day. The makers of the movie would like to believe that it is a perfect date movie which is why they shifted the day of release from February 17, 2012 to February 14.

The makers of the film say that the response to the movie has been so good in terms of pre-screening and word of mouth publicity that they believe that the movie would rake more profits during the romantic day.

Plot of This Means War

The story is about two CIA agents and close friends Tom Hardy and Chris Pie who end up dating the same woman Reese Witherspoon. The conflict escalates into a full-scale war between the two friends who use all their sleuthing skills against each other. The result, lots of hilarious scenes, funny action and ample measure of romance.

There are speculations that the movie may end up looking like a clone of Mr and Mrs.Smith a movie that became quite successful due to the chemistry of the lead pair played by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. The makers have denied this allegation and said that The Mean War is complete original in terms of scripting and treatment. Most of the scenes in the film have been shot in Vancouver between the months of September and December 2010.

Chris Pine is positioning himself well as a romantic star having done a few romantic capers like The Princess Diaries 2 : Royal Engagement (2004 ) and Just My Luck (2010), and This Means War may well put him in fine stead as a romantic hero.

Tom Hardy, an English actor is known for movies like Inception, Star Trek Nemesis, RocknRolla, Bronson, Warrior and Ticker Tailor Soldier Spy. Apart from his role in The Mean War, Tom Hardy is also doing the main negative character Bane’s role in The Dark Knight Arises. It should be one of his most challenging roles considering the late Heath Ledger immortalized the role of the villain Joker in the first installment. Reese Witherspoon’s last outing ‘Water for Elephants’ (2011) won her nomination for ‘People’s Choice for Favorite Movie Actress’.

Interestingly, Tom Hardy and Chris Pine were not the first choices for their roles in the Mean War. Tom replaced Sam Worthington who has starred in movies like Avatar and Terminator Salvation while Chris Cooper is known for his roles in movies like The A- Team, Wedding Crashers and The Hangover.
