One of the biggest twists of “The Vampire Diaries” is when it lost its protagonist for 6 seasons, Nina Dobrev who plays Elena Gilbert. Dobrev decided not to renew her contract after working for 6 seasons on “TVD.” Now that Season 7 of the show is almost here, the characters talked about Dobrev.

On the video interview by Entertainment Weekly, Candice Accola and Michael Malarkey enthused about Dobrev on the show, Accola said that she loves doing fight scenes with Dobrev because she works seriously on it just like her. Malarkey commented that Dobrev is their Queen Bee, “Nina’s our Queen Bee. You know, she’s gonna be missed greatly.”

He also recalled an incident when they were filming an episode for Season 5 and Dobrev leaned in and whispered to her to actually throw her. Dobrev said that she really did some stunts on the show without warning but she said that she usually ask their stunt coordinator if she can do something and if they say no she’ll still do it and apologize after.

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 is going to be different now that Dobrev is gone and there will be new twists and turns that will make the story interesting. The loss of one of the main characters was a huge deal for the cast and crew of the series, but during previous interviews with Julie Plec and other cast members such as Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, it was revealed that they are working hard on the upcoming season and are pretty confident that the fans will love what they are going to see.

Filling up a space will take some work when it comes to a long-running TV series such as “TVD” but we know that they can pull it off.
