The episode of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 6, Episode 21 “I’ll Wed You in the Golden Summertime” is a great episode leading up to the season finale. It felt like “TVD” that we have grown to love, and it was devastating! Read below for the full recap:

It’s Jo and Alaric’s wedding and Elena is human again. Bonnie woke up from a bad dream about Lily and Kai. However, they can’t dwell on the new developments in their lives because they have to concentrate on Jo. However, it is only Caroline who’s really up for the task. She organized everything and also made sure to make amends to the people she hurt while her humanity switch was off.

Caroline started off with Elena. She apologized to her because she told her that she wouldn’t be happy with Damon once she’s human. Elena accepted her apology and she loves being human again.

The men were also busy preparing for the wedding. Stefan takes Damon first to one of the houses that he’s lived in just to prove a point that he can’t choose being human again because it would only ruin his life. He gave him different scenarios of what could happen when he takes the cure, but none of it worked. In fact, Damon even revealed to Stefan that he has already bought a loft and bought the bar under it near a medical school just like how Elena pictured it.

Stefan growing frustrated called Elena and told her about the progress. She instructed that he tries harder. So, he did. He got inside his head showing him life with Elena as a human. She works late very hard while he becomes an alcoholic. Later on, he blames Elena for making him take the cure. Somehow, it got to him but Damon still believes that they are soulmates and meant to be together forever.

Meanwhile, Jo collapsed and Elena panicked but good thing it was only a panic attack. Bonnie told Matt about her dream. Matt quickly took out his weapons because he knows that whatever Bonnie dreamt or envisioned will happen. Bonnie went down to check on Lily and got choked.

Caroline apologized to Tyler next and was forgiven and got distracted because Liv was there. However, things between Liv and Tyler didn’t end well because Liv didn’t’ appreciate when Tyler walked away from him when she tried to kill herself.

Stefan finally admitted to Damon that he doesn’t want him to take the cure and also explained to Elena how Damon was when he was human. He was very sensitive and very sweet, but he wasn’t strong just like the Damon now. Also, he doesn’t like the idea of them being in isolation when they both become humans.

It’s wedding time, but Bonnie and Matt were nowhere to be found. It turns out both of them are lying on the floor having been strangled by Lily. And as for Lily, she’s at the Grill with Enzo and asking him to come meet her family.

Damon and Elena had a talk and at first Damon said that he doesn’t want to give up being a vampire. He changed his mind and said that he would give it all up just to have that chance to be with Elena and live a normal life with her.

At the wedding, just when the two expressed their vows Jo got stabbed in the back and just like that, it was Kai behind her.
