“The Vampire Diaries” cannot just let go Elena Gilbert’s character and rumors are that replacement of Elena is already under development! Nina Dobrev’s exit from “The Vampire Diaries” has sure effected cast and team of CW series who are planning to get a new Nina Dobrev for the show.
“The Vampire Diaries” has put Elena on a 60 years sleep by villain Kai, since Nina Dobrev wanted to leave. Her character exit was not planned and so the show is facing issues with future storylines.
“TVD” cast has also time and again hinted towards Elena’s comeback and not necessarily Nina Dobrev’s return.
In an interview with TV Insider, “TVD” star Paul Wesley, who plays the character of Stefan, informed viewers, “Elena’s still a very big part of the story. Her body’s in danger in the first few episodes, and Damon is doing everything he can to make sure it stays safe if and when she wakes up.”
Flash-forwards from “The Vampire Diaries” season 7 also hints to the dark future for the CW series. Many speculation suggests that season 7 might be the last season of “The Vampire Diaries.
Ian Somerhalder also expressed his doubts about the future of the show while talking to Variety about Environmental Relief Programme.
“I personally think everyone thought it was going to be a huge departure after Elena (Nina Dobrev) was gone. And I was one of those people. I thought it was going to be a huge departure for the typical formula of our show. By virtue of the fact that it wasn’t a huge leap for mankind, as far as changing it up, there were some differences that sort of mixed up the formula.” Somerhalder said.
According to Hypable, creator Julie Plec is also not seeming sure of the launch of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8. While, fans very much wished for Nina Dobrev’s return to the show. Dobrev released an official statement via Instagram over her exit from “The Vampire Diaries.”
