Kmart unveiled its latest Christmas ad on Monday, which has notched up millions of views, but it doesn’t mean everyone was happy for putting it to air.
This new Kmart’s Jingle Bells ad promotes the sale of Joe Boxers underwear, the Kmart’s branded collection. This simple one-minute spot shows six handsome men in suits, playing bells behind a table.
As the table and bells roll away, the men are revealed to be dressed in tuxedo jackets and Joe boxers. And then, they start playing “Jingle Bells” in somewhat an unconventional way – swinging their hips to create the jingle bell tune with their, uh, junks.
Consumers have shown split reactions to the commercial on Kmart’s Facebook fan page. Some complain that the ad is too racy, but there are some other users who have praised the ad for being Funny and Awesome.
“The Joe Boxer ad is disgusting and not fit for family consumption. K-Mart is off my list,” Kate McGinnis Frasier wrote.
Another user joined the tirade, and wrote: “Wow imagine this commercial playing while the kids are watching a Charlie Brown Christmas or Frosty the Snowman. Inappropriate for kids!!!”
But Lauren Rae Atkins dfended the ad, “I think it is so funny people are so upset over the joe boxer commercial. We watch so many other ads with half naked women and nobody says a thing! I thought it was so funny! Good for you!”
Now it’s your turn. Do you think this ‘Jingle Bells’ ad is too edgy for the holidays? Or, is it just good fun? Sound off in the comments below.
