The American basketball player, Chandler Parsons, who plays with Texas-based Dallas Mavericks aka Mavs of the National Basketball Association (NBA), underwent surgery this season and an umpteen of speculations surrounding him have been made that whether he would able to make himself ready for the coming season or not. Read below to get a scoop of it.
The Mavs initially did not reveal what type of surgery the 26-year old small forward positioned American had, but according to an insider of Fox Sports, the surgery was performed to repair his cartilage in his right knee.
The media outlet also reported that although the Mavs remained tight-lipped about his projected timeline while many wondered he would not be ready for the season opener, but a recent video posted on his Instagram account would surely remove the illusions from their minds. There is no doubt that he is recovered and ready to play shots like before.
According to Mavs Moneyball, Parsons is one of the five players with whom the Mavs had three years contract headed into July’s offseason. He is in the second year of his contract with the Mavs worth $46 million. Critics believe that a lot more opportunities is waiting for Parsons to prove himself this season when he completely becomes healthy and revive his daily practice.
With Dirk Nowitzki, the German basketball player who is presently with the Mavs, on the way out, Parsons is believed to be getting nearer to a cornerstone as he has shown the fans tremendous performance as not only a spot-up shooter but showing his caliber to create off the dribble. Hence, the deal for the Mavs won’t be cheap as Parsons is slated to make $15.3 million in 2015, and another big shot of $16 million between 2016 and 2017.
However, if Parsons accepts any other much better offer from another team, the Mavs would have to look for another major free agent expert in small forward position, but it is tough to get someone at par with him. However, some reasonable names like Nicolas Batum and Luol Deng are in the list.
