Lagertha Dies in Vikings Season 4
The core characters of Michael Hirst’s critically acclaimed historical drama are falling one by one and Lagertha might be the next to be killed. Hirst also stated that the Vikings are fueled by revenge and Ivar has plenty to avenge for. First, before he returns for Ecbert and Aelle, Ivar wants to battle Lagertha to gain back control of Kattegat and as a retribution for the death of his mother.
“We know that revenge is the biggest motivator in the Viking world,” stated Hirst in an interview with Screener TV. “You’ve got to expect that Ubbe, Hvitserk, Sigurd and Ivar are going to want to do something about that.”
Ivar is unlikely to be killed in the following episodes considering how he still has a mission to avenge the death of his father and become one of the greatest Viking heroes in history. It will be interesting to see how the power struggle between Ivar and Lagertha will go down.
However, Lagertha is not fazed by the threat to her life. The award-winning screenwriter explained that the shield-maiden is a real Viking. If her fate is to die in the hands of Ragnar’s sons, she will accept it.
Vikings Season 4 Episode 16 Crossings will air on Jan. 4 at 9 p.m. ET on History.
