With “The Fast & The Furious” movie series’ visionary serving as the helmsman for the initial episodes of the “True Detective” Season 2, the long wait is finally over as HBO announces the confirmation of two of their lead casts: Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn. Read on further details.
There were lots of names that were thrown in to spark for the second season of the much-awaited HBO series, “True Detective.” At first, we were able to hear Brad Pitt, Jessica Chastain and Taylor Kitsch to play the lead roles in one of HBO’s highly regarded show. We came across a rumor that the creators have been asking for Colin Farrell to take part in the titular role. However, this time around, a confirmation has been revealed for every “True Detective” fan that Colin Farrell will be playing the role of Rey Volcoro and opposite him will be Vince Vaughn taking the role of Frank Semyon.
According to the press release from HBO, as published on Time, “True Detective” shall be helmed by “The Fast & The Furious” director Justin Lin, with a script that was penned by series creator Nic Pizzolatto. Additional information are as follows:
The eight-episode hour-long drama is set to begin production later this fall in California.
Logline: Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.
The series is created and written by Nic Pizzolatto. Justin Lin will direct the first two episodes.
Cast: Colin Farrell as Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.
Vince Vaughn as Frank Semyon, a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.
Additional casting will be announced as it is confirmed.
Deadline also added more names into the crime-infiltrating bunch as there are three. Paul Woodrugh is expected to be played by the aforementioned Taylor Kitsch, and another female lead cop named Ani Bezzerides. As of late, there is still no final name tapped to play the role that would basically complete the show’s casting circle. Rachel McAdams as well as Kiera Knightley’s names were also thrown in into the mix. Ultimately, the filming is scheduled to commence this Fall in California — the main setting of the film.
