“The Voice” Season 7 episode, which was aired on Oct. 13, 2014, was about the “Battle Rounds.” The coaches have asked the help of some of the industry’s best recording artists to provide knowledge and skills to the contestants. Read on for the full recap.
Adam Levine is with Steve Nicks, Pharell Williams with Alicia Keys, Gwen Stefani with husband Gavin Rossdale and Blake Shelton with Little Big Town. The team coaches picked two members from their teams to “battle” and after that, that is when the coaches will decide which member from their team is the strongest and who can steal someone from the other teams.
The first one to go is Team Pharell. He picked Ely Juh Rene and Maiya Sykes and they both sang Alicia Keys “If I Ain’t Got You.” After this, the coaches gave their feedback and everyone seemed to appreciate Ely Juh’s take on the song but they also love the power that Maiya Sykes has shown when she sang the song. In the end, Ely Juh is the strongest member of Team Pharell and Maiya got eliminated because no one stole her.
On Team Adam, he picked Chris Jamison and Jonathan Wyndhum and both contestants sang “Young Girls.” The coaches appreciated both contestants, but they are more in favor of Chris due to his amazing stage presence that really captured their attention. Obviously, Chris won this battle while Jonathan had no steals and was sent home.
We had Jean Kelly and Sugar Joans from Team Gwen who both sang “Survivor” by Destiny’s Child. The song was a difficult one, but the coaches loved both of their performances, but it was Sugar Joans who nailed it. While thanking Gwen, Adam suddenly cut Sugar Joans speech and stole her from Team Gwen while Pharell took it as a signal to steal Jean from Team Gwen as well.
Blake chose Craig Wayne Boyd and James David Carter from his team and they sang “Wave On Wave.” James won this round and Gwen immediately stole him from Blake’s team.
Amanda Lee Peers and Taylor John Williams from Team Gwen battled each other out by singing Dolly Parton’s “Jolene.” Taylor John Williams nailed the song, which made him the winner of this round. Unfortunately, no one stole Amanda so she got eliminated.
After that, we have Griffin and Luke Wade from Team Pharell who both sang Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed.” Luke Wade won, but Blake and Gwen want Griffin. In the end, Griffin chose to be with Blake’s team.
