“A Walk Among the Tombstones” Synopsis:
The film is set in 1999, when Matt Scudder (Neeson), a unlicensed private investigator, was called by Kenny (Stevens), a drug dealer, to help him find his wife’s kidnappers and to avenge her without going through the legal system. You see, Kenny’s wife is kidnapped. After he has paid the ransom amounting to $400,000, the kidnappers did return his wife, only she was no longer breathing.
Having learned from a cemetery’s groundkeeper (Olafsson) about the killers’ identities, Scudder searches for the duo (Harbour and Thompson). He is aided by an unlikely teenager, TJ (Bradley).
“A Walk Among the Tombstones” Review:
The Hollywood Reporter’s Frank Scheck praised Neeson’s performance in the film and even referred to the movie as a “would-be franchise starter.”
“A Walk Among the Tombstones is notable for its dark atmospherics and strong performance by Liam Neeson,” said Scheck in his review in THR.
Meanwhile, Dan Jolin of Empire has nothing but good words for the film. He also rated it four out of five stars.
“Like a good butcher’s cleaver, it’s weighty, solid and sharp — an effective matching of director and star in what is hopefully the first of a new film series,” wrote Jolin in his review in Empire.
