The success of “The Walking Dead” has triggered a spin-off and now that “The Walking Dead: Spin Off” series is really happening, AMC has revealed that the upcoming spin-off was ordered for two seasons. Read on to learn more about it.

According to TorontoSun.com, the spinoff or the companion series will take place in Los Angeles and features new characters as well as storylines. It will debut with six episodes this summer while the second season is scheduled for 2016.

“TWD” creator Robert Kirkman will executive produced the companion series along with Gale Anne Hurd, Grec Nicotero and David Alpert. Cast includes Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey.

“We take incredibly seriously the notion of building a satisfying companion series to the number one show on television. From the beginning of ‘The Walking Dead’ on AMC, we’ve been asked questions about what was going on in other parts of the zombie apocalypse, and what it looked like as the world really did turn. Through this new series, we’re going to find out,” AMC president Charlie Collier said in a statement posted on TorontoSun.com.

Kirkman also commented, “I’m very grateful that we now have the opportunity to tell this amazing story and show the fans that we really haven’t scratched the surface yet when it comes to ‘The Walking Dead.’”

If the show got a two-season order, then it just simply shows how the network trusts the creators, producers and the cast of the show to make an excellent debut that will make a second season worth it. Also, it would also be a “breath of fresh air” for the fans to see how the zombie apocalypse is affecting other parts of the world since we’re currently concentrated on Rick’s crew (not that we’re complaining). It would be great to see how others deal with the apocalypse as well as the situation in a different area.
