Everyone is pretty much used to the idea of Walt Disney Pictures paving its way towards a vibrant fairy tale movie. However, it will all be different once you catch a glimpse to the newly released film trailer of their big screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s popular musical play “Into the Woods.”
There are so many things that you could notice just by watching the trailer alone. First things first, vibrant wouldn’t be the impression it would make on you once you witness the trailer unfolding right before your eyes. A sense of eeriness ascends as it begins with an aerial shot of the vast forestland. You would then later on start to see familiar figures that are reminiscent to the classic fairy tales you have come to know. In that, Little Red Riding Hood jolly hops her way to the woods, and you hear the distant dialogue of her saying “I wish.” Next, Jack climbs the giant bean stalk and sites the same passage. It is then followed by a shot of Rapunzel lowering her long hair from the tower and a montage of a distressed Cinderella citing a similar line. With that, the whole things shifts into a fast-paced sequence of shots that introduced the main characters of the film starting off with Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine and, lastly, Johnny Depp.
In the feature of Screen Rant, they’ve stated that this new Disney musical certainly differs from the rest of the films that we have come to love, ultimately labeling it as something that surpasses the average fairy tale created by the Mouse House. For one, the movie is directed by the same person who has brought out the cinematic masterpiece of the Oscar-winning musical “Chicago” — Rob Thomas. As it would seem, the director is no neophyte to turning such a riveting Broadway musical into something that can be appreciated on the silver screen and is backed by visual effects.
That being said, the fans can certainly hold great anticipation for the much-awaited appearance of Johnny Depp who is known to give 100 percent character to the role he is playing. This time around, he will be playing the Big Bad Wolf, especially with the way he has previously worked with Thomas in his gory musical and Oscar-nominated performance in “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.”
This upcoming Disney film is certainly one that deserves a place in your must-watch list as its storyline is a creative cinematic fusion of several fairy tales from the Grimm Brothers as described by WTHR. “Into the Woods” is set to hit the theaters, just in time for Christmas day, on Dec. 25, 2014.
That sums up the scoop on Disney’s recently released trailer for “Into the Woods.” Continue to keep tabs on Movie News Guide (MNG) for the latest updates in the entertainment world.
