‘War of the Planet of the Apes’ Cast Sara Canning To Play A Simian

Sara Canning, who portrayed Jenna Sommers in The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries,” is the latest addition to the growing simian army in “War of the Planet of the Apes.”

According to Deadline, the 28-year-old Canadian actress has been cast in a still unspecified role to in which she will be joining the army of defiant monkeys.

Canning’s other noteworthy acting performances in television and film also included: “Hell on Wheels” in which she was nominated for a 2015 Leo Award for Best Guest Performance by a Female in a Dramatic Series in her portrayal of Charlotte Royce and the ongoing Canadian medical drama series “Remedy” in which she bagged a 2014 UBCP/ACTRA Best Actress Award and a 2015 Leo Award for Best Lead Performance by a Female in a Dramatic Series.

Canning is set to join Andy Serkis who will be reprising his role as Caesar for the third time. Both Judy Greer (“Ant-Man”) who portrayed the alpha simian’s mate Cornelia and Karin Konoval (” of a Wimpy Kid”) who played Maurice will also be returning for their respective roles as mentioned in Hollywood Reporter via Yibada.

The reappearance of both of their character’s will undoubtedly facilitate in the upholding of the ape’s state of affairs. Greer has also been mentioned to have been given a more considerable part in this latest outing.

Again, this latest sequel of the reboot series will again be noted for introducing new characters with comedian Steve Zahn playing a new ape and veteran actor Woody Harrelson playing “The Colonel” as he sides with the Human resistance.

Also making his big screen introduction as also previously reported in Deadline is Aleks Paunovic of Syfy’s “Continuum” fame as he portray’s another new simian.

The film which will be released in July 14, 2017, will still be under the helm of Director Matt Reeves and will start-off next to the events of last year’s “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.”
