‘War For The Planet Of The Apes:’ Woody Harrelson Will Be The Main Antagonist?

The first two movies managed to establish the backstory of Caesar and show his rise from being just an ape to a true leader. Brought to life by Andy Serkis, a third installment in the “Planet of the Apes” is fast taking shape and will continue Caesar’s story. Even when the rest of the cast is not known, latest updates reveal who the main antagonist of the movie will be.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Woody Harrelson has grabbed one of the leading human roles in the upcoming third installment titled “War for the Planet of the Apes.” Not much is known about his character, but if reports are to be believed, Woody’s character will go with the name of Colonel. Matt Reeves, who directed the previous installment “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” that was released in 2014, will be returning to helm this movie as well.

It is being said that apart from Woody Harrelson’s character nothing else is known about the movie at this point. Gabriel Chavarria is the other character that is being reported as new addition to the movie. Woody Harrelson has undoubtedly become one of the favorites amongst audience after his much acclaimed work in the first season of “True Detective.”

Variety added that the movie will be shooting this fall in Vancouver. The script has been written by Mark Bomback, and Chernin Entertainment along with Dylan Clark is producing the film. The movie is said to have a 2017 release in mind. The previous installment “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” which was a sequel to the “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” grossed about $700 million at the box office. James Franco was the protagonist of the first movie while Jason Clarke and Gary Oldman led the humans in the second one. It remains to be seen if the makers decide to cast a human protagonist or choose to let the apes become the heroes in this one.
