According to The Hollywood Reporter, one of Hanna- Barbera’s brand ambassador ‘Scooby Doo’ and his crime- busting friends will soon be brought back to live after dozen years. This time as an animated movie, as Warner Bros. Pictures prepares a theatrical release on Sept. 21, 2018.
The new animated Scooby-Doo franchise would be helmed by Emmy nominated Tony Cervone. He has worked on several direct-to-video Hanna-Barbera cartoon movies including animated series “Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated” in 2010. The screenplay comes from Matt Lieberman, who penned the reboot for “Short Circuit,’’ while “Phineas and Ferb” cartoon co-creator Dan Povenmire will be involved in creative potentials.
Oscar-nominated producers Charles Roven and Richard Suckle, who have formerly fabricated the Studio’s extremely prosperous live-action features “Scooby Doo” and “Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed,” will produce the new animated reboot alongside producer Allison Abbate.
Warner Bros. will release the feature under Warner Animation Group banner and the President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production, Greg Silverman, while announcing the release date officially stated –
“Like countless fans, I have always loved the Hanna-Barbera cast of characters. As one of their most famous brand ambassadors, Scooby-Doo will take the lead in re-introducing this pantheon of enduringly popular animated stars on a grand scale with an exciting new movie,” the outlet continued.
Well, reading between the lines of the official statement from Silverman, it seems like Warner is trying to place the new Scooby- Doo movie as a mark of beginning new wave in modern animation films based on our beloved Hanna- Barbera cartoon series.
Although three years wait until the release in mid- Sept. 2018, expectation have started growing amongst the fans in the same way. It grows throughout the production unit and hopefully the new animated feature will increase Scooby Doo fans as Scooby’s universal appeal reaches across all cultures and generations.
