Director of the “Independence Day,” Roland Emmerich, with other casts members of the sequel revealed details about the next summer’s blockbuster at press conference in New Mexico. After nearly two decades, the second sequel is going to hit the big screen on June 24, 2016.
The video, released on Tuesday, will show you the conversation between Roland and all other casts members assembled like Jeff Goldblum, Vivica A. Fox, Angelababy, Sela Ward, Bill Pullman, Liam Hemsworth, Brent Spiner, Jessie Usher, Judd Hirsch and Maika Monroe. You must watch the video to know the film’s final title including some story points.
The follow-up will be titled “Independence Day Resurgence,” as declared by Roland in the live stream. According to him, the first part showed how the characters of Will Smith and Goldblum fought against the alien attack. The next sequel will take place after 20 years to show, how, in this ensuing time, the human race has joined forces for organizing a global defense system, adopted alien technology and prevented future invasions.
“We call it in the film the War of ‘96. It is like a post-World generation that is unified, and that is amazing to see a world come together with a common enemy. That’s a resurgence,” Roland explained the title in light of the storyline, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The first part titled “Independence Day” was produced by Dean Devlin. The film mainly focused on the arrival of aliens followed by the destruction done by them. The film made a box office record for earning $817.4 million globally.
The film also made a record for winning many awards like Academy Awards for Best Science Fiction Film, Satellite Awards for Outstanding Visual Effects and Outstanding Film Editing, Universe Reader’s Choice Awards for Best Actor, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Writing and lot more. It will be exciting to see how the Roland represents the upcoming sequel.
