Marku Feehily of Westlife recalls when his own group decided to took a year off in 2009 and relates it on One Direction hiatus. Read On!
One Direction is set to have an extended hiatus next year and Markus Feehily of Westlife insisted Harry Styles, Louise Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan to follow their hearts.
According to Yahoo, Feehily asked Directioners to support 1D’s decision as he was adamant that parting ways from one another for a while is the right thing to do.
Feehily connects Westlife days to ID group by saying that though his group’s split in 2009 brought annoyance to other people, it did great to their band as he insisted that “they would have burned out and split earlier” than expected if they forced themselves to make music as a group that time.
“We had been together for eleven years and we thought if they are that fickle then so be it, we need this break and if we don’t have it we are going to implode,” he said.
In his interview, the 35-year-old “Love Is A Drug” singer said that they were warned by their record label as well as Simon Cowell about what may happen if Westlife took a year off.
The singer went on by saying that the split of Westlife helped them to last longer.
“That break bought us another four or five years in Westlife so it was the best thing we could have done, because if we didn’t take that break in 2009 we would have only lasted about another year and it bought us another four.” –Yahoo
Moreover, he also said that Directioners should be happy that 1D followed their hearts and made this decision because “it’s probably going to buy them more years in the business.”
On the other hand, it was not the first time Markus Feehily blurted out his thoughts about One Direction. He also expressed his opinion about Zayn Malik’s departure to the group.
MailOnline previously reported that Feehily commends Malik’s sudden decision.
