“The Divide” is an upcoming legal drama from WE tv. It premieres on Monday, July 16, 2014, at 9:00 p.m. on WE tv. It is part of the network’s overall rebranding after being acquired by AMC. Learn more about the WE tv’s first ever original series, “The Divide.”

According to the show’s synopsis posted on WE tv, “The Divide” follows the story of a social worker named Christine Rosa (Marin Ireland). She tries to solve the case of Terry Kucik (Joe Anderson), who was a wrongly accused deathrow inmate. Her beliefs will soon clash with those of a persistent district attorney named Adam Page (Damon Gupton).

Christina had known what it feels to be powerless when her father was convicted for murder. On the other hand, Adam will do everything to retain his reputation for being one of the best DA among the younger generation. Both of them are determined to fight for the things that they know are right in the eyes of justice.

Adam’s political moves will have consequences with his relationship with his father (Clark Peters) and his wife Billie (Nia Long). Meanwhile, scientist Clark Rylance (Paul Schneider) is a keyplayer in finding the balance between Christina and Adam’s decision over the Butler case.

Deadline previously reported that the network had ordered for a 10-episode season run for the series. It was announced by WE tv president and general manager Kim Martin. It will join three other developing scripted series including “All American Woman,” “Dirty” and “Headhunters.”

“The Divide is the kind of compelling, high-quality storytelling that we think will set the right tone for our entry into scripted drama, a significant step in our network’s evolution,” said Martin in the Deadline article.

AMC, WE tv’s sister network, first saw the concept made by showrunner David Manson before he left his duties for an EP gig at Netflix’s “House of Cards.” He was replaced by John Tinker of “The Practice,” who joined LaGravenese, Goldwyn and Andrew Sugerman as executive producers.

According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), “The Divide” is the first project for the collaboration between “Behind the Candelabra” writer Richard LaGravenese and “Scandal” star Tony Goldwyn. LaGravenese and Goldwyn previously had their own share on working behind the camera. LaGravenese had been known for his works on “The Fisher King,” while Tony Goldwyn directed several episodes for various TV series including ABC’s “Scandal.”

TV Line also reported that the creative duo will continue their partnership on the show’s pilot episode. LaGravenese will write the script, while Goldwyn helmed the pilot episode. It will air a special two-hour pilot on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at 9:00 p.m. before moving to its final time slot at 10:00 p.m.

Are you excited for Tony Goldwyn’s project as creator and director for “The Divide”? How about his partnership with LaGravenese? Will this be a start of a successful run for the rebranded WE tv network?

And that’s it for the upcoming “The Divide” television series from the WE tv network. It premieres on Wednesday, June 16, 2014 at 9:00 p.m. Want more updates on “The Divide“?
