“Saturday Night Live” alum Will Forte showed up at the FOX press panel last July 21, 2014 with a full beard, surprising everyone in attendance. The actor has been working on “The Last Man on Earth,” a comedy series that will debut on the network this midseason. More on this show below.

Will Forte has written and produced and is starring in “The Last Man on Earth,” which is set in the year 2022. After a worldwide catastrophe, Phil Miller (Forte) is left as the only surviving person in the world. An average guy, Phil used to work in a bank and was a simple family man. Now, he does nothing but travel from city to city in his RV, in the hopes of finding survivors. Unfortunately, even as he has searched far and wide, including to Mexico and Canada, Phil realized that he is all alone.

On the bright side, having the whole world to himself has its perks. He could park anywhere he likes, walk around in his underwear, or live in the White House and no one would care. It’s all about attitude and perspective, and Phil is great at making lemonade out of lemons. Despite being alone and lonely, Phil is still hopeful that he could run into a survivor one day. What are the odds if the survivor were a woman? He is, after all, the last MAN, right?

Directing the pilot episode of the single-camera comedy are Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Along with Forte, the three also serve as the series’ executive producers with Seth Cohen. It’s obviously a small cast with a premise that looks limited. As part of the promotion for the series, which first released its teaser in May 2014, Forte and his team from “The Last Man on Earth” are keeping mum on the other details of the show.  He wouldn’t even talk at length about it during the press panel presentation, according to Yahoo! TV, pleading to the journalists present to “respect the secrets” of the series.

We have to say, though, it’s making us curious about what this show is really about. Watch the teaser of “The Last Man on Earth” below to learn a bit more. And as always, future updates about this series will be provided here on Movie News Guide (MNG).
