Today, it is customary for big film projects, such as the continuing “Star Wars” films and MARVEL films to be surrounded with a cloud of secrecy. This, of course, causes the fans of these films to keep on speculating about what to expect, up to the last few days before the actual film is released. In this case, aside from the usual questions, another question has recently popped up in the minds of every “Star Wars” fan- who among the characters in “Star Wars: Episode 7-The Force Awakens” will we be seeing in the next instalment? WARNING: This article might contain spoilers for “Star Wars: Episode 7-The Force Awakens”.

Rampant speculation about the upcoming “Star Wars” films has been around ever since it was announced that the epic story of “Star Wars” would be continued in another batch of films.

Now, almost a week before the premiere of “Star Wars: Episode 7-The Force Awakens,” thanks to the recent press conference that was held with Lucasfilm bigwigs and the cast and crew of the movie, fans are now speculating who among the characters in the upcoming movie will be sticking around, hopefully, until Episode 9; and thanks to a recent interview that LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy had with the Los Angeles Times.

During the press conference, according to HitFix and Cinema Blend, Kennedy, while seated beside Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma) and John Boyega (Finn), mentioned, while patting Boyega on the shoulder, that they were going to begin working on the next instalment of the “Star Wars” saga soon.

Most fans took it to mean that all three of the actors with Kennedy on the couch, will be making it to Episode 8.

However, among the three, only Christie’s character has been confirmed for the next movie.

Kennedy herself confirmed this while speaking to the Los Angeles Times recently about the role of the women in “Star Wars,” from Queen Padme Amidala (Natalie Portman), all the way to Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o).

Aside from confirming that Phasma will indeed be in the upcoming instalment, Kennedy mentioned that she still has “big plans” for the character.
